Life as I know it

Last week was a crazy week packed with Wildcat spirit, ridiculous games, fattening food, and massive amounts of alumni. Even with the Homecoming festivities underway, the University of Arizona had some tragic blows last week.

It all began when I was on my way to work Thursday afternoon. I work at the medical center for the athletes here at UofA, and its located under our Basketball arena, called the McKale Center. So anyway, I was about to walk into the arena and I came around the corner and there were hundreds of news crews and reporters. Startled, I just took a quick look and continued on to the medical center. I finally got down to the training room and medical center and I started talking to some of the other Techs, who were also slightly baffled. We finally learned from an athlete that our beloved basketball coach, Lute Olson, announced that he would be retiring.  I was very taken aback. I’m a big fan of Arizona basketball, and Lute is like a god to the University. It also came to me as a shock because a week ago he said how excited he was to be coaching this upcoming season. Olson has a lifetime record of 781-280 while at Long Beach State, Iowa and Arizona. He has won 11 Pac-10 regular season championships and made 28 NCAA Tournament appearances. He has taken Arizona to 24 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, second longest streak all-time and led Arizona to the 1997 NCAA Championship. He will definitely be missed, thanks Lute.

Aside from that, UA also lost our homecoming football game vs. USC, 10-17. The wildcats did an amazing job, and it was a crazy game.

Dang, I should be a sports reporter. :D

Hello from Arizona :)

So UA is pretty big with the Greek Life. Just on this campus, we have something like 56 Fraternities and Sororities. Everywhere you go there is someone in a Sorority shirt, or has a bag, or something that shows what chapter they are in. Being in a sorority was always an interest of mine, but I decided to pass on it my freshman year, so I can have some time to adapt to my new life. Cost is also a pretty big factor. I'm not sure if other schools are like this but to be in a sorority it costs a few thousand dollars, even if you aren't living in the house. :/

I know sometimes sorority girls have some bad reputations, but honestly, I haven't met one sorority girl that I didn't like. Everyone that i've met so far is super sweet, and are really smart. I remember seeing House Bunny a while back and thinking thats how sorority girls really were, but its not true at all.

Has anyone seen the 80's movie Revenge of the Nerds?
If you haven't go find it and watch it! Its so funny, and best of all it was recorded here on the UA campus. :D

Well guys, back to some homework

Hey Guys!

So, this past weekend was pretty eventful. My family came down to visit and my secret plan to surprise my little sister was a complete success. We went to a football game and saw America's Best Dance Crew Live, which was of course, beyond amazing.

So our football team is doing really well this year. We played Cal and were NOT favored to win, but we did :) It's really nice having a really good team this year, it makes the ridiculously crazy student section "ZonaZoo" even crazier. We play USC this weekend, Lets go Cats!

So, this week is also our homecoming week. There are a lot of events going on throughout campus, like Royalty Campaigns, Club Olympics, and some Greek games. Even if you aren't participating, its really fun to watch students play. I was asked to participate in a few different games and events, but I decided to turn them down this time, school work is a bit too stressful right now.

Well guys, I hope all is good. Watch us play USC this weekend! Cheer on the Wildcats!

Haha, First off I want to start by saying that I think that "OMGz" is a funny term. It just makes me giggle :)

Do you know what one of my biggest pet peeves is? When people text nothing but "k".
(*&$#*(^&%*(%)(

>:(

STORY TIME!
So about a month ago I was really really really sick, and I was confined to my tiny dorm room. I was texting the guy I liked (who is now my boyfriend) from the comforts of my top bunk. He was in class, and we were just having a normal conversation. We were talking about his classes and homework, as well as other small talk that any flirty couple would make.

He then said, "Hmm, Im hungry. What sounds good for lunch?"
So I thought a bit, and replied, "Panda Express sounds amazing"

blah blah blah, He then asked what he should get from panda, and I replied with the typical order I would get from there. More text messages went on and then he got out of class. He then sent a message saying "You're hungry right? Because now i have your order ;)"

:|

I about died.
haha, I thought it was the most clever thing ever.

:)

A funny thing happened last night. I was on Skype (webcam program) with my best friend, Randy, and we were just having fun and talking. My roommate Jenna, who Randy and I went to high school with, was in and out of the conversation also. Randy was being his normal goofy self, and we were talking about making sad faces for some reason. I wanted to show Jenna Randy's ridiculously pathetic sad face but he kept making excuses saying "Nooooo, you have to give me a reason to be sad..." etc. So Jenna and I are trying to give him these sad scenarios and Randy interrupts us, and says "Jenna Has a crush on me!?" and then sulks into his beyond pitiful sad face. Jenna's face completely dropped, and I nearly dropped to the floor in laughter....

haha. We love Jenna  :)

Good Times, Good times.

Well, off to bed.

Heyyyy Guys!
It's nice to see that the site is (slightly) running, Im looking forward to seeing the finished product in the next few days... If anyone has seen the November issue of Seventeen, I HATE YOU! ahhh, not really, but I'm seriously starting to think that the state of Arizona has banned the average teenage girl's bible, because I cant find a copy anywhere, and neither can other family in Arizona.

This whole being a Freshman 15 thing is really an awesome experience. Its beyond unreal to see yourself on a website like Seventeen, and to eventually see myself in the magazine. I don't know how many of you followed last year's 15, but I followed Berna like a stalker. haha. And now she is doing this cool thing with Verizon and Seventeen, which is nothing less than awesome. Here are some of her videos for it:

Anyway, this last week has been very uneventful and lame. We didn't have a home Football game, and Stanford beat us by one point :(

We play Cal this weekend tho! Go Cats!
Im hoping this weekend will be a good one, I'm like 9039248% positive it will though.

I have a few tests this week! Ugh! Wish me luck guys. :)

I hope everyone is doing good in their high school/college endevors, and where ever else life is taking you.

Oh hey guys! You can talk to me on myspace!

Hey Guys,

Its definitely one thing to kiss and tell, but its much different when you are kissing and telling millions of girls. So bear with me :)

Over the past year, my relationship status has had its fair share of changing. I've been in love, I've had my heart broken, I've experienced new crushes and have developed life long friends. Lets start back at the beginning of my senior year.

Going into my senior year, I was currently in a year long relationship with my boyfriend, Matt. Matt was a great guy, and had an amazing family, and we were really happy with each other. Unfortunately, Matt was going into his freshman year at the University of Arizona, but we thought our love was strong enough to hold together a 400 mile long distance relationship. The goodbye was unbearable, but once he was settled and I had accepted the distance, things seemed to be working out fine. We used a program called Skype to video call each other every night and talk, and it was a huge help on our long distance relationship.

Honestly, Im not sure what went wrong. But in mid September I received a phone call, saying he wasn't able to do this anymore, and he needed to let go and move on.

I was devastated.

Time rolled on and I realized who I could truly count on. My two best girl friends, Jenna and Sarah, and my best guy friend (who is my "bff"), Randy, did everything in their power to put my broken heart back together, and over time they did. Jenna and Sarah would bring me flowers and all the chocolate my stomach could handle, and the best "I hate boys they all need to rot and die" movie, John Tucker Must Die. Randy and I would get slurpies, sit in the driveway, look at the stars, and talk for hours.

February came along and Matt and I began talking again. The friendly text messages turned into heart felt phone calls, and when I was at a camp on the UA's campus, we decided to give it a shot again.

After that, we were fine. We learned from our mistakes and really tried to make it work, and it did. He was my date to my senior prom and he came to my graduation. The summer came along and he was staying with my family and I at my house, since his parents moved and they weren't close by anymore. May went along and then it was June, and I was continuing to have my Slurpie rituals with my bff, Randy and my girls nights with Sarah and Jenna.

Many things seemed to happen. Matt and I started fighting a lot, I was getting irritated with him, and I started to have feelings for my bff. I knew it wasn't fair to Matt, so we ended up deciding to take a break and he would go back to Tucson. My bff and I became closer than ever, and we quickly became an item. We never had the title, boyfriend and girlfriend, but we were together. Randy and I would spend time together every night, and his family was always so fun to be around. My summer fling suddenly came to a sad end, when I had to pack up my life and move to college.

Randy and I stayed and still are very close, but are no more than friends. His future is extremely bright with colleges recruiting him for football, and my life was taking me to Tucson, and we decided thats what would be best.

After a long 6 hour car ride, I was finally a college student. I moved into my dorm, said my goodbyes, and began living my life on my own. The only person I knew well was Jenna, who is my roommate, and Matt. Matt and I began talking again, and went on a few dates, but we both decided its just not going to work out, and we just aren't meant to be right now. All of this happened the first week of school. I was flying solo and meeting LOTS of new guys.

I went on a few dates, and went to a few parties with some guys, but one seemed to stick out more than the rest.

All of the people in my dorm (which is co-ed) became very close over the first two weeks of school. We would have dance parties in the game room, watch movies in random rooms, or just hang out and have a good time. There was this guy named Corey, that I really liked from the start. He was a sweet guy with great morals, and most importantly...he could make me smile. At first it was harmless flirting through text messages, but over time a crush developed, on both ends. Our crush quickly grew into a relationship, and the title, "Boyfriend and girlfriend".

At first I was very skeptical about being in a relationship. I mean, It's college. Its the time to grow, have fun, and date around. In all honesty, I am extremely happy that I chose the relationship with Corey. He is more than an amazing guy, who sings me Angels and Airwaves songs, kisses my forehead, tells me I'm beautiful when I'm in sweats and have no makeup on, and he makes me feel nothing but great about myself. And Yes Grandma...he has blue eyes. He will definitely be around for a very long time, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Well, now that you know my entire life, im going to call it a night.

♥ Dawn

Hey Guys!
So, I think many of my blogs are going to be nothing but solid ramblings and complete randomness. So let the fun begin!

College is such an amazing experience, I really hope all of you who are reading this are excited about it, like I was. The University of Arizona is such a welcoming campus, and I am very glad I decided to come here (Even though I decided as a sophomore in high school :P ) You really learn who you are in college, what you beliefs are, and what you truly enjoy doing.

So anyway, enough of the mushy stuff. Time for some juicy details about myself and my lifestyle. :)

Prior to coming to the UA, I was an honor student, Varsity Cheerleading Captain, National Honors Society Vice President, Rotary's Interact Club Secretary, a full time Library director at the Boys and Girls Club (I did educational programs, tutoring, and I even ran a dance team), My grandpa's favorite, Voted "Miss Mohave" (Most School Spirited), top 10% of my graduating class, athlete of the month, Spoiled-rotten, National Youth Leadership Forum of Medicine Alumni, "Youth Citizen of the Year" nominee, and involved  in every possible thing I could sign up for. I really enjoyed being busy, as you can tell.

But now I am merely a broke college student, 400 miles away from my family, still my grandpas favorite, hard working, an Easy Mac enthusiast, dedicated girlfriend, Pre-Med, attached to the hip with my laptop, still spoiled by care packages from my family, Aspiring Cheerleader, Skype loving, volunteering, completely stressed out girl, who is doing anything in her power to become the person I've always aspired to be.

I am currently living on campus and I absolutely love it. My roommate is my best friend from high school, Jenna. I know I know "NEVER ROOM WITH YOUR BEST FRIEND". I've heard it plenty of times. Actually, Jenna and I have had our arguments but overall, its not bad at all. The key to making it work is to make sure you have a slightly different circle of friends. This allows us to hang out with different people at different times, so we don't get too sick of each other :)

Anyway,
I had the opportunity to go home and see my family and my bff last weekend. My family and I went to my high school's football game, and for the first time this season I got to see my bff (I call him Monster) play. We unfortunately lost, but I still had a good time. The next morning I got to watch my little sister (who I call Tister) play Volleyball. I wont be able to see my family again until thanksgiving :(

Hopefully 2 months will feel like two weeks....

:/

I was never into sports so much. I was always the ballerina or the cheerleader, where my sister plays every sport that she can be in practically. I guess you can say She is Daddy's Little Athlete, where I was always Daddy's Little Princess :)

and mom's too.

And Especially Grandpas.
Because Im his favorite.
duh. :)

I should probably go do some homework. :/

Hopefully something good and bloggable will happen this week.

Welcome to my life as a college freshman.

Defy Gravity and Keep Smiling,

Dawn
